Wefts are cleaned but not Conditioned

Our wefts are cleaned thoroughly before being packed and sent out to. We strongly advice to wash and condition the Perfectress Remy Hair wefts first before using them. Even though the hair is already clean, it has not been treated with a conditioner yet. The hair will feel silkier after washing and conditioning,

5 steps to prepare for washing and conditioning

  1. Leaving the two binding strips attached, wet the hair with lukewarm water making sure it is thoroughly wet. keep the top of the weft in your hand and ensure that the hair is flowing downwards at all times without rubbing the hair.
  2. Put the right amount of shampoo into your palms and apply the shampoo by squeezing it through the weft.
  3. Rinse the shampoo thoroughly and make sure there are no leftover residues when you squeeze the weft. If there are still shampoo bubbles appearing, rinse once more.
  4. During the application of conditioner, when you feel that the hair is saturated indicates that you have applied enough conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb to comb the conditioner through the weft until the comb goes through the weft without getting tangled. Start combing from the ends upwards. Rinse thoroughly and never leave any conditioner residue in the hair behind. Avoid using any oil-based products.
  5. Take off the two binding strips and unroll the weft fully. Hang it to dry on a clothesline or drying rack with pegs. Comb through once more and scrunch the hair if needed. Leave it to dry completely. Do not comb, brush or play with the hair while it is drying. Your weft is ready to use when it is completely dry.

For Curly Textures

DO NOT brush curly textures when the hair is dry. The curls will become separated and look frizzy. This may also cause some tangling at the ends. Use your fingers to separate curls until you have reached the desired fullness. When you wake up in the morning and if some curls are separated too much or looks flattened, just wet the hair with your hands and scrunch the curls back into shape. Again, let them dry completely before finishing the style.

General Important Information

DO NOT use any oil-based products. Always use water dissolvable products. Oil-based products will keep the hair in a wet condition and therefore cause matting. Oil-based products attract a lot more dust and dirt, which will make the hair less smooth and dry. You know it is safe to use the product if you can rinse the product off from your hands without the use of soap or shampoo. Never wash your weave upside down in the sink.

General Washing & Conditioning

  • Shampoo at least two times a week.
  • Never wash, brush or dry the hair upside down.
  • Before washing, brush out all tangles with the Perfectress Bristle Brush
  • Do not use a brush with only plastic or steel pins.
  • Always start brushing or combing at the ends, working your way up to the roots.
  • Wet the hair thoroughly, then dispense a small amount of shampoo into your hand and rub your hands together.
  • Apply the shampoo evenly on the scalp and at the roots. Gently wash the scalp using your fingertips without rubbing the hair.
  • Rinse thoroughly while squeezing the hair to remove all shampoo residue. If the shampoo does not foam, DO NOT apply more shampoo but continue washing as normal. After rinsing, simply re-apply the shampoo for a second time if needed. There is no need to apply a lot of shampoo in the lengths. This will get cleaned when you rinse the hair out (unless extremely dirty).
  • After washing, you may use a conditioner. However, apply conditioner from the ends to halfway up the length and not on the roots. Comb the conditioner through using a large wide tooth comb until all tangles are removed.
  • Rinse thoroughly without leaving any residue in the hair. Towel-dry the hair by squeezing it with the towel. DO NOT rub or massage the hair.
  • You may apply small amounts of leave-in conditioner or your favorite styling product. Comb through with your fingers into the direction you would like your hair to fall and scrunch it upwards once again.
  • After you have done this, leave the hair to dry completely without touching, combing or brushing it = best natural result! Check if the hair is 100% dry with your hands. When the hair is dry you can use your fingers to separate the curls until you have reached the desired fullness.
  • At night, braid the hair in a large loose braid at the nape of the neck before going to sleep. DO NOT sleep with wet hair as this will cause tangling and make it difficult to style the next morning because of its dryness and being squashed flat.
  • In the morning, some curls may be separated too much or flattened. Just wet the hair with your hands and scrunch the curls back into shape. Again, let them dry completely before finishing the style.

In the Morning

In the morning, undo the braid and comb the hair with your fingers. Apply a water mist on unruly spots. If the curls are separated and look frizzy, brush the hair from the end upwards to the roots until all tangles are removed. Damp the hair with water spray and push the hair upwards for optimal texture. Use a hair dryer with a diffuser for maximum curl effect or to shorten the drying time. When drying naturally, push the hair upwards to stimulate the waves or curls again. Do not play with the hair while it is drying. When it is completely dry, run your hands through the hair to separate the waves or curls to your liking. It is important to use the right tools for care and maintenance. A good hairbrush is a small investment to keep your hair in the best condition possible.

Styling the hair

In the morning, undo the braid and brush the hair starting from the ends upwards to the roots until all tangles are removed. If necessary, dampen the hair with water spray. You may use a ceramic straightening iron (not on damp or wet hair) or a hair dryer with a bristle brush to smoothen the hair. Other styling tools that can be used are: Heated Rollers, Steam Rollers, Curling Irons, Hot Air Curling Tongs and Setting Rollers. Do not use hot styling equipment above 356F (180C). Temperatures above this can damage the protein in the hair causing it to solidify and make the hair dry and unmanageable. Always keep hot styling equipment moving through the hair and not hold for too long in one place. We strongly recommend not to use straightening irons on wet hair.

Sports and other activities

Do not expose your hair to strong windy conditions like sailing, motor sports and cabriolet cars. Wear protective headwear if needed.

Visiting the Sauna or Steam Rooms

Braid the hair in a loose braid in the nape of the neck and put it up using a hair clip. The hair can get very hot and painful when touches the skin just like natural hair. Only brush the hair when it is cooled down. After sauna, rinse the hair under the shower and preferably wash the hair and condition it at the end of your visit or when you get home.

Going for a swim

Before swimming, brush out any tangles. Wet the hair completely down with fresh water. Applying a good amount of leave in conditioner to the hair is optional. It will give your hair a protection barrier against outside elements. Make a braid at the nape of your neck, twist the braid around the base of the braid and secure with a “hair safe” elastic band. Try to keep your hair out of the water as much as possible. After swimming in chlorinated or seawater, loosen the braid and rinse immediately under the shower. This is necessary to rinse out all the chlorine or salt as both will dry your hair out when leave it in for too long. Condition and comb out with a wide tooth comb, and then leave it to dry naturally.

Going for sunbathing

Braid your hair in a large braid at the back of the neck. After sunbathing, DO NOT undo the braid until the hair cools down.

When using Tanning Machines

While lying under a sun-tanning machine, cover the hair loosely with a towel. DO NOT apply skin tan oil or sunblock to the hair.
